When my youngest
daughter was in preschool, a mom of
one of her classmates was battling breast
cancer. Many of the other moms wanted to
be supportive of our friend while keeping her in
our thoughts and prayers even when we weren't with her. I designed a
bracelet in her honor using the Relay for Life colors
(she was an active fundraiser) and instead of
using the "Hope" bead, we used a bead that said "Believe"
because her mantra was "believe in miracles".
The news spread, and soon I was making bracelets
for many of her other friends too. I could
see how much it meant to my friend when she saw
how many woman were wearing a bracelet in her
honor. She could feel the love and
support without anyone saying a word.
Our friend,
Debbie Greene, lost her battle with breast
cancer in August of 2006. However,
her spirit is still very much alive and her
friends will continue to wear her bracelet in
remembrance of a woman who taught us all the
true meaning of courage and grace.
Since creating
that bracelet for Debbie, I have designed many
other personalized awareness bracelets.
The feedback I have received has been amazing!
This is a new venture for me that I am finding
to be most exciting. It is so interesting
for me to learn of different people's stories.
The fun part is trying to create a bracelet that
captures a piece of their individuality.

simple as a child's initials being added to an

being designed from scratch.
